Sutter Cane Watches WCW: December 1995

Right, Sutter Cane back again with another installment of my continuing journey through the history of WCW. This time we'll be covering all of the Nitros for the month of December in 1995, and the buildup to WCW's biggest event of the year, Starrcade. So without further ado, let's jump right in, shall we?

WCW Monday Nitro 11/27/1995

So, we have a lot of questions still to be answered from the PPV.
1. What exactly is the deal with Sting and Luger
2. Will the World heavyweight Championship picture get sorted out after the unconventional finish of the battle royal, and most importantly
3. are the guys in the running for the main event slot at Starrcade really a guy who can't wrestle a good match because he's too inexperienced, a guy who probably won't be able to put on a good match because he's hurt, and Hulk Hogan?

Johnny B Badd (with Kimberly) vs Diamond Dallas Page

DDP comes out with a bouquet of flowers to give to Kimberly to try to get her back.

he hands her the flowers and them immediately attacks Johnny B Badd

turns out DDP hid a chain in the flowers he handed Kimberly, but when DDP asks for the chain and she throws it. It ends up throwing it between Page's legs and to Johnny B Badd

Johnny hits DDP with the chain, but the ref doesn't seem to care and picks up the victory

the focus here stays almost entirely on Kimberly and where her loyalties lie, and it really works from a story perspective

After the match Johnny confronts Kimberly on whether she meant to throw the chain to him or to Dallas, but she's reluctant to answer insisting that he won and that's what matters

Interview with Jimmy Hart and Kevin Sullivan. Sullivan has a bine to pick with Hart since Lex Luger (who hart is also managing) is running around with sting. Hart hints that he has something up his sleeve

Cutie Suzuki & Mayumi Ozaki vs Bull Nakano & Akria Hokuto

Looks like we have a PPV rematch tonight, folks.

The refs just don't seem to care about blatant and extended double teaming in these matches it seems

They're making a big deal abut the agreements they have with different Japanese promotions. Not complaining about that at all.

Ozaki picks up the victory with an inverted brainbuster

Not as good as their ppv match, but still pretty fun

Hugh Morris vs Hulk Hogan

Hugh Morris completely whiffs on the moonsault. Just kind of embarrassing

hogan wins via leg drop of doom, as if anyone expected anything different

savage cuts a promo about how he's pumped to be champion and how he's going to go on a reign of terror. isn't he a face?

Hogan comes out and confronts savage on the finish to the war games match, and says he deserves a shot since he was never thrown over the top rope. Hogan goes to show macho man the tape but it cuts out right at the crucial moment

Giant comes out and attacks them both. I know he's involved in a feud with hogan, but he really had nothing to do with that segment

sting comes out to assist hogan. hogan uses sting's distraction to get a chair and hit giant with it multiple times. He also ends up elbowing a ref

those are the weakest shots to the head that 've ever seen. I mean if you don't feel comfotable doing them (which they probably shouldn't) then just plain don't do them. on't just barely tap someone with the chair and expect us to buy it

Bischoff asks why Sting was trying to call hogan off the giant

Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman vs Lex Luger and Sting

Luger doesn't come out to the ring with sting. He ends up coming out slightly later.

thought they were going to do the exact same thing they did at Halloween Havoc with flair there for a sec

sting gets Anderson into the scorpion deathlock, and Pillman climbs the turnbuckle to prepare to break up the pin. Luger runs over and throws him off right into Sting.

Given how much they seem to be building the whole sting seems to be helping Luger out thing, having them be a uncooperative tag team for their match doesn't seem to make sense

Sting picks up the win via a roll up. Flair comes out to attack Luger, and the horsemen deliver a beatdown on the two until Hogan comes in to make the save.

Hogan starts t go after Luger, but sting pulls him off, and the two exchange some words that we can't hear.

Is every upper card match going to result in a giant clusterfuck of run ins after/during the finish?

Overall a fun tag match.

WCW Monday Nitro 12/04/1995

I think I may need a flowchart to keep track of all these character relationships. Let me see if I've got this straight. Hogan is currently feuding with Kevin Sullivan and Giant (and by extension the rest of dungeon of doom). Savage is having a mini feud with Hogan even though they're still friends, and is also feuding with Luger who is a member of the dungeon of doom. Luger, however, is currently in a tag team with sting, who is aligned with Hogan and Savage, and those two are feuding with the horsemen now it seems. The horsemen, in addition to taking on sting and Luger are also feuding with Eddie Guerrero for some reason. Yeah I think i need that chart.

apparently Hogan, Flair and Giant are all on probation

WCW World Tag Team Championship match: The American Males (Marcus Bagwell and Scotty Riggs) vs Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) (c)

I get the feeling Stevie Ray just isn't very good

Well, we get more Colonel Parker/Sister Sherri antics, but at least this time it's related to the people in the match. Apparently Parker got Sherri a ring. they kiss and leave

Man, Bagwell's kicks look WEAK

The match isn't bad at all when Booker's in, but when Stevie ray has to get involved it's just dull

Booker T hits the Harlem Hangover and picks up the win. Harlem Heat retains

Sting and Luger come out to cut a promo. Sting says that he thinks Luger has a good chance of becoming champion later tonight, but that, even though they're friends, he's not going to go easy on Luger when they end up facing off in a triple threat at Starrcade. Luger assures Sting that he won't go easy on him either.

I really like the current dynamic between the two right now.

Sting vs Kurasawa

Unremarkable match. Sting picks up the victory

Bobby Heenan apparently has a problem saying the T in Starrcade.

Scott Norton vs The Giant

It'd be nice to see Norton in a match with someone who is actually good in the ring.

Holy crap, Norton picks up the giant and holds him up on his shoulder for a good 6-7 seconds. Would have been more impressive if it would have ended in a slam rather than an atomic drop. Dude has some strength

apparently the C in WCW now stands for Committed. I don't know, World Committed Wrestling just doesn't have the same ring to it

The Giant hits the choke slam and gets the victory

Heenan says (in response to the replay of him getting choke slammed) that he may as well be "Ed Norton". I find this odd, since if I did hear him correctly, and if he is making a reference to the actor, Edward Norton's first film  (Primal Fear) wouldn't be out for another 4 months. If there's another Ed Norton that I should know about, please tell me.

Okerlund announces tat Ric Flair is coming to the ring, and Charles Barkley comes out with him. This actually seems to make a lot of sense as far as celebrity cameos go. Sure as hell makes a lot more sense than the people WWE usually brings in for theirs. Seems kind of pointless to just have him come out for an episode of nitro though, instead of getting him involved in some fashion with Starrcade, even if they do happen to be in Phoenix this week

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Lex Luger vs Randy Savage (c)

This match is taking forever to get started

I think it's is kind of humorous that despite the fact that Savage is the one with the arm injury, It's savage that's actually really working over Luger's arm.

Jimmy hart keeps blowing a whistle and it's really fucking annoying

Bischoff making a huge deal about the overrun. Kind of funny, given that RAW seems to have a 15-20 minute overrun every week nowadays

Savage clocks the ref right in the face for some reason, but it doesn't result in a DQ.

Bischoff takes a shot at raw by saying "do you want to watch wrestling or do you want to watch people talk about wrestling?" I assume this quote will be hilarious down the line.

Luger accidentally runs into the ref, and the ref falls out of the ring. Savage then hits the elbow drop but there's no one there to count the pin. Jimmy Hart tries to interfere but savage goes to stop him. Ric Flair then comes out to attack Savage. Apparently Hart and flair are working together now?

Then Hulkster comes out and points at Flair. Hulk catches him before he gets away, but then lets flair go anyway for some reason. he then drags the ref back into the ring, and begins to attack Jimmy Hart, causing a disqualification. Hogan then picks Luger and Hart up and knocks their heads together. He goes to punch Luger again, and sting pulls him out of the way, resulting in Sting getting clocked in the face. Sting and Hogan then get in each others faces before Savage separates them

you know I think I may have to start tallying the number of matches that end in complete Clusterfucks of run ins, rather than just stupid finishes, because this seems to be happening like every single week now

Complete Clusterfuck of a finish count: 5 (Hogan vs The Giant at Halloween Havoc, Flair vs Sting 11/6/95, Sting vs Hogan 11/20/95, last week's main event and this week's main event)

they go to commercial and when we come back things have dies down slightly, but sting hogan and savage are still all in the ring. Hulk confronts sting about how they're supposed to team up against Flair and Anderson the following week, and he wants to know what the deal with Luger is, and which side sting is on.

Now this makes absolutely no sense in relation to their match against the horsemen, because both Sting and Luger received a post-match beatdown from the horsemen LAST FUCKING WEEK! "Yeah Sting, I just really have to know, are you on my side brother, and are against the horsemen, or are you on Luger's side, who is... also against the horsemen. This is a real sticking point with me dude."

Luger says that he's on hulk's side, but because Luger is a long time friend of his, he wants to try to straighten Luger out rather than abandon him

Savage also is against Luger, but sting continues to stick up for him

Hulk requests that Sting keep Luger out of hulk's face since they're going to be tag team partners. Sting agrees to this.

WCW Monday Nitro 12/11/1995

Eddie Guerrero vs JL

Both wrestlers get a jobber entrances here

Eddie seems to impress me even more every single time

Some "Eddie" chants coming from the crowd. Apparently they agree

Now i'm wondering how slick the inside of the ring is, because Eddie has been literally sliding all over it.

apparently one of the gimmicks for Starrcade is a showdown between guys from NJPW and WCW. Should be fun.

Eddie picks up the win.

Luger and hart cut a promo on Macho Man.

Disco Inferno vs "Mr Wonderful" Paul Orndorff

Paul Orndorff is still wrestling?

the muscle atrophy in his arm is really noticeable

Orndorff mocks Disco inferno's dancing. Nice.

quick match. really seemed like a time filler.

The Horsemen come out (sans Benoit) to hype the tag team main event later in the night. They have Pillman cut the majority of the promo on hogan despite the fact he's not involved in the match. Pillman also takes a shot at Orndorff and his recent association with Gary Spivey. Orndorff comes out and interrupts flair to come out and confront Pillman. they eventually start brawling on the floor. The Horsemen eventually get the advantage, and deliver a beat down culminating in a piledriver onto the concrete.

After we come back from commercial we see Orndorff in a neck brace, still on the floor, being carefully put on a stretcher

Lex Luger vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan

throughout the match we cut back to the medical team attending to Orndorff, and loading him into an ambulance

Hart ends up getting the ref's attention and Duggan begins to tape his hand. Duggan goes after hart, but Luger gets him in the torture rack and picks up the victory.

I am not a Jim Duggan fan at all.

Savage comes out and cuts a promo on his title match next week against the Giant. They're still trying to claim that he's Andre's son.

Ric Flair and Arn Anderson vs Hulk Hogan and Sting

There's Still over 20 minutes left in the show, so it looks like we'll be getting a good long match here.

Sting comes out by himself for like the 3rd time now, but Hogan makes his way to the ring before the match starts.

The camera gives us a close up of Sting's ass to start the match. Odd production choice

Ooh, a really nice technical sequence between Flair and sting. Hell their parts in this match have been better than their match at WW3

Luger interferes to attack hogan and puts him in the rack. Why? I have no goddamn idea, as Luger should want to see the horsemen beat, given that he got a beatdown from them. Would be nice if they mentioned something about that.

Hogan eventually gets tagged in, hulks up, and gets his team the victory.

Pillman then comes out, and the horsemen go to work on Hogan and Sting.

Actually I have to retract my earlier remark about Luger's actions not making sense, as he comes out to protect Sting from a horsemen beatdown, but dues nothing to help Hogan

then Savage comes out, and Sting attacks Him. Hogan tries to separate the two.

Overall a pretty fun match the advances the storyline. Can't really complain too much, but still,

Clusterfuck Finishes: 6

Actually, Macho Man coming out when he did doesn't really make sense unless he was actually trying to attack sting, since he didn't make his entrance until after the brawl with the horsemen was over.

Hogan talks about how they can't afford to be fighting amongst each other at the moment. Macho Man wants answers. Sting says he only hit macho man out of reflex. Hogan sticks up for sting by pointing out that Sting just helped Hogan out in the post match brawl. Savage and Sting reconcile to close the show.

Seems like things in the main event scene are getting quite complicated, and it certainly makes me want to keep watching.

WCW Monday Nitro 12/18/1995

While Bischoff, Heenan, and Mongo are doing their intro to the show, all of a sudden Madusa shows up with the WWF Women's Championship, and throws it in the garbage.

My first thought: WCW has a women's wrestling division?

Looks like we're starting to get into some of the historic moments. I can only imagine how shocking this must have been to people who had never seen it before.

Then right afterwards they bring out William "The Refrigerator" Perry to run security for the announcers.

Ric Flair vs Eddie Guerrero

Eddie gets a Jobber entrance for this one. Really looking forward to this one.

The two just kind of stand around for a while. Kind of a waste of the time they've been allotted.

FUCKING DO SOMETHING

There we go.

Or not. whatever.

Flair eventually picks up the victory with the figure 4. How the hell do you get 2 of the greatest wrestlers of all time in the ring like that, and have such and uninteresting match?

Why exactly are Eddie and The Horsemen feuding? Eddie's hasn't actually cut any promos, so I'm really just not sure. I mean there were shenanigans after like one of the matches between Eddie and Chris Benoit, but they didn't seem to really follow up on it. Then they announced that Benoit was part of the horsemen, and suddenly Eddie is feuding with the entire stable. The Horsemen certainly don't have any reason to be interested in Eddie Guerrero, and like I said they never seemed to really follow up on the thing with Benoit.

Speaking of which, where the hell is Chris Benoit, anyway?

Kevin Sullivan comes out and interrupts their promo. He has a beef with Brian Pillman and tells Arn Anderson that he needs to keep Pillman on a short leash or he'll send the dungeon after them.

Craig "Pitbull" Pittman comes up to the announcer's table, and tries to say something, but the mic he has doesn't work. Nice job production guys

they give him an new mic, and Pittman asks Heenan to manage him. Heenan says that he's no longer a manager, but he'll put him in contact with someone. Pitbull says it better be soon

Lex Luger vs  Marcus Bagwell

Bagwell's arm drag needs work.

Luger gets Bagwell in the torture rack and picks up the win.

Pretty typical tv match. Not bad, but unremarkable

Hart and Luger cut a promo about how he's the "uncrowned world heavyweigt champion"

Earl Robert Eaton vs Sting

Who the fuck is Earl Robert Eaton, and what did he do to get stuck with such a shitty gimmick?

To no one's surprise, sting picks up the win

Nothing else about the match is worth mentioning

Another promo about the triple threat match.

You know from the way they've been building up Starrcade on Nitro, you'd think it'd be just a 2.5 hour long triple threat match with maybe a couple of short matches with the Japanese wrestlers thrown in at the beginning.

Randy Savage vs The Giant

I'm not a huge fan of the type of match that The Giants seems to put on at this point (ie, huge guy vs much smaller guy). It's just not visually very interesting to me

Damn, the Giant breaking out dropkicks and doing a dive from the top rope. never mind, this is pretty fun.

I'm not actually sure ow to accurately describe the spot I just watched. The giant moves the mats out of the way and attempts to suplex Savage on to the concrete, but somehow Savage ends up inside the ring, and the giant gets tripped up and falls on to the concrete himself. just looked really weird

Apparently the chokeslam isn't enough to keep savage down, so giant has to break out the leg drop. Then right after he does so, Hogan runs out to the ring with a chair, and hits the giant in full view of the ref. The ref does nothing, except try to get hogan out of the ring. Then taskmaster tries to attack hogan, but hogan punches him to the floor

Hogan then hits giant with the chair again in full view of the ref, Giant picks up the victory by DQ

Hogan then attacks the ref as well

The Fridge down to ringside, and hulk nearly attacks him too.

Hulk Hogan cuts a promo. In the middle of it, the giant, being held back by Sullivan and some other guy, comes out to attack the Hulkster, and is calling him out. Hulk then charges down the ramp and starts attacking the giant wit a chair yet again.

Hogan finishes his promo and says Savage owes him a title shot

Apparently Savage is defending the title next week on Nitro as well against Ric Flair.

Savage says he'll get his match after Starrcade.

Savage then asks hogan for the chair, because he thinks he can make a bunch of money from it by selling it as memorabilia after he gets it signed by Sullivan and the Giant. I swear I'm not making this up. This is also how the show ends

WCW Monday Nitro 12/25/1995

Yeah, they're doing a live Christmas episode. I feel sorry for the talent involved. It's gotta suck to have to work on Christmas.

Bischoff is wearing a really dorky Christmas sweater. It's quite amusing

Lex Luger vs Scotty Riggs

Preparing for a quick squash match since Starrcade is only a couple of days away. Whose idea was it anyway to hold Starrcade on a Wednesday anyway? Wouldn't that lead to fewer buys?

Wow, this is a much more competitive match than i was expecting. Riggs is actually pretty solidly in control for the first five minutes of the match

Luger does eventually pick up the win of course.

Cut over to Okerlund and sting. Okerlund asks sting about him and Luger, and sting gives the same answer he's been giving. That Luger is his friend, and he's trying to straighten him out.

Big Bubba Rogers vs Sting

Pretty standard nitro match here. Bubba does bust out an enzuigiri at one point, which is always cool to see from a big guy, but otherwise not all that remarkable.

Sting picks up the win to no one's surprise

Luger and Hart get a promo now, and cover the exact same stuff sting's does. Luger also insists that he and sting are friends and that there's nothing more to it than that

Criag Pittman interrupts and asks Jimmy Hart to be his manager hart turns him down. This must be what it feels like for the crowd in a WWE Raw 2 Season mode

Dean Malenko vs J.L.

There's really not any story or purpose behind this match, but i'm certainly not complaining about the matchup. These two are great in the ring

Is there any real reason they stuck Jerry Lynn with a masked luchador gimmick?

Malenko does some kind of weird gutbuster where he jumps off the 2nd rope while bringing JL down onto his knee to gain extra momentum. The logic behind it is sound, but it just looks weird

Malenko gets JL to submit not long after. A Pretty short match, but it was fun while it lasted

Flair then gets his promo slot. as usual, the only match they're hyping for Starrcade is the triple threat match. He also has a match with savage for the World Heavyweight Championship against Savage later tonight.

Jimmy Hart interrupts Flair's promo to thank him for saving him from savage back in Phoenix, and asks to accompany him to ringside. Flair accepts. A great promo from 2 great talkers

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match: Ric Flair vs Macho Man Randy Savage (c)

You know what i'm really loving about WCW right now? The shows really are about wrestling.  So often nowadays it seems like RAW's main event will be a promo, or a really ruched main event match, but it seems that week in and week out Nitro makes room for a 15-20 minute main event match, and I dig that.

Wow, Macho Man locking the figure 4 in on flair early on here. No, I didn't get the names reversed. Macho man locks in a figure 4 before Flair does here.

D'aww, savage was getting a beatdown on the outside, and gets thrown into the guard rail, and is motionless against it, with his arms draped over the top, so some kids come running down the aisle and over to him to give him a pat on the back and encourage him to get up. A really cute moment.

Jimmy Hart keeps attacking macho man whenever he has the chance as well

Some really good storytelling in this match. I thought the general consensus was that Macho Man basically couldn't go anymore by this point. I mean sure he's kind of slow, but he's more than capable of telling a good story in the ring.

I like how Bischoff keeps mentioning whenever their show is running long. Really makes you feel like you're getting something extra, even if it happens fairly often. Don't understand why they don't do the same thing on raw

Uh oh, here we go again

*takes deep breath* So Savage starts to make his comeback, and it looks like he's regained control of the match until jimmy hart comes up on to the apron and tries to get a cheap shot in on Randy. Savage sees this and knocks hart off the apron. Flair uses the distraction to make an attack but savage blocks his punch and savage still maintains control. Or at least it looks that way until Lex Luger runs down to the ring and starts beating the crap out of savage, giving the victory by DQ (this actually makes sense, as Luger both has a beef with savage, and specifically wants to beat him for the belt). Sting then comes running down to the ring to break up the fight, but he's intercepted by flair. Luger and flair eventually leave the ring. We end the final Nitro before Starrcade with sting and savage getting into a shoving match in the center of the ring.

Actually not adding this one to the clusterfuck finishes counter, because my current criterion for that is 3 or more run-ins during the finish.

Pretty damn fun match though, and an excellent way to end the final show before Starrcade. I know I'm pumped for it

Actually, why the hell DID they choose to have Starrcade on a Wednesday? I mean my initial hunch was that so they'd have the first nitro after Starrcade be the first show of the new year, or something like that, until I actually stopped and thought for a moment and realized that Sunday would have been the 31st and thus worked perfectly as a year-ending show. I just don't get it.

Sutter Cane Watches WCW: World War 3 1995

Sutter Cane back again with another installment of my trek through WCW. This time I'll be taking a look at World War 3 1995, the first ppv to showcase WCW's unique three-ringed take on the Royal Rumble. Will it turn out to be a great new take on the idea, or will it immediately devolve into an unwatchable mess? Will WCW step up their game at all to make up for the past 2 awful Pay Per Views, or will the streak of terribleness continue for the third month in a row? Let's dive right in and find out.

WCW World War 3 1995 (11/26/1995)

WCW is Live from Norfolk Virgina for the inaugural World War 3 Pay Per View

Hogan Savage and sting cut a promo to start off the PPV. Hogan reveals that he and savage have come back from the dark side and that they will never ever again question sting and that from now on they're totally going to be BFFs forever guys. Joking aside, it's not a bad promo.

Also as usual Macho Man can't stand still and ends up wandering around in the background while Hogan and sting do their bits.

Hulk then takes a shot at the dirtsheets saying that The Giant is going to win the title and that Savage has been working hurt. Not really sure what the point of that was, but whatever.

Video package of the continuing feud between DDP and Johnny B Badd that's been happening on WCW Saturday Night. Kimberly is going to be put up as a prize for their match at WW3 (her word choice, not mine). Progressive!

World Television Championship: Diamond Dallas Page vs Johnny B Badd (c)  Winner gets the services of Kimberly

Is it just me, or are they counting the pins faster here than they do today? Seems like it's pretty much impossible to kick out at a 1 count.

man there really isn't a lot of room between the ring and the guardrail due to this 3 ring set up. Not sure I'd be all that comfortable doing dives to the outside if I were in that situaton, so kudos to Johnny B Badd.

DDP misses on a stomp by about a full foot. Johnny sells it anyway

DDP repeatedly heckling a female audinece member by calling her a bimbo to get some heel heat. Couldn't get away with that these days

Man it seems really weird to see powerbombs and piledrivers being busted out as regular moves without any fanfare.

Johnny B Badd hits the Badd day followed by a slingshot leg drop and picks up the victory and the services of Kimberly

the two hug in the middle of the ring and flirt a bit.

Solid match to start off the show, though it's probably not one I'll remember all that much down the line

Okerlund interviews Badd and Kimberly backstage. Badd offers her a position as his manager, but says she doesn't have to accept if she doesn't want to.

Taped Fist Match: Big Bubba Rogers vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan
this is going to suck isn't it?

Duggan ambushes Bubba during Bubba's entrance then attempts to hit him with his board before the ref takes it away.

Isn't Duggan supposed to be the face here? Cause he sure is acting like the heel.

the two end up brawling on the outside and make their way into one of the other 3 rings. apparently this doesn't count toward a count out.

It'd be a stretch to call this a wrestling match, since there hasn't been any wrestling here at all due to the gimmick

wow, Bossman busts out an enzuigiri. Nice

The announcers aren't actually aware of the rules of the atch they're calling. Nice.

Bubba tapes Duggan to the ropes. This isn't a no DQ match, so why exactly doss the ref allow this?

VK Wallstreet comes out to interfere with a chain wrapped around his wrist, but bubba stopped him. Bubba gets ahold of the chain, hits duggan with it when the ref isn't looking and picks up the win.

This match sucked. Taped fist matches always suck. On top of that there were several spots that just made no sense at all. Thankfully it's over now

Flair cuts a promo on his upcoming match with sting.

Cutie Suzuki & Mayumi Ozaki vs Bull Nakano & Akira Hokuto

They bring out Tenay for this match, and he promptly calls Japan "The Orient." Pretty Sure that's not the preferred nomenclature dude

I just can't get over Nakano's hair here. It's sticking up in the air like 2 feet straight above her head.

The athleticism in this match is awesome. Why can't modern women's wrestling be this good?

Nakano hits the guillotine leg drop and gets the pin

This is by far the best match of the night so far, and that's not a knock at ddp and mero's match earlier. This was a hell of a lot of fun and is going to be a damn tough act to follow.

US Heavyweight Championship: Kensuke Sasaki (c) vs Chris Benoit

Sasaki won the championship at a NJPW event from sting a little over a week before this event.

A lot more slowly paced than the previous match, and it's kind of suffering in comparison so far, even though it's by no means a bad match

Ooh, Benoit goes for a suicide dive, and hits his head on the top of the steel barrier. This does not seem like a safe set up.

far too many rest holds in this match.

Ugh, that flying headbutt Benoit does is just uncomfortable to watch. I don't think i need to mention why

Sasaki hits the northern lights bomb and picks up the victory, retaining the title

Not a terrible match, but not one of Benoit's best either. The match takes far too long to really get going and it ends up looking even worse given the match it had to follow

The Giant, Jimmy Hart and Kevin Sullivan cut a promo on the 60 man battle royal.

Hart starts to walk off after his part seemingly forgetting that the promo isn't actually over. He eventually realizes this and rejoining the group

Hugh Morris apparently debuted at some point. Not sure when

Video package recapping the Savage/Luger feud

Savage then cuts a promo on the match as well. Savage claims that his arm isn't actually injured

Randy Savage vs Lex Luger

Savage's left arm is taped pretty much all the way up

Savage then charges Luger as soon as he steps into the ring, and the start o this match isn't half bad

Savage hits the elbow drop, but Jimmy Hart is distracting the ref

Sting and Luger are apparently going to be teaming together on nitro. Maybe they'll finally explain what is going on between those two

Luger eventually gets Savage to tap with the armbar.

Luger refuses to break the hold, and sting comes out to have some words with him, and gets Luger to break the hold. I'm interested to see where this is going.

The match was pretty short, but actually quite entertaining while it lasted. Interesting to see that these guys can still put on pretty good matches when they're not up against other members of the dungeon of doom.

Video Package about the recent Sting/Flair feud

Sting vs Flair

Can't Really go wring with this match up

You know I' not really sure about how I feel about the way they're handling the battle royal, as the people who are having matches earlier in the night are also involved in the WW3 match. It's very different.

Flair has some words for sting before the match begins

Flair immediately goes into one of the other rings, which is interesting but rater random

and they cut away from FUCKING STING VS FUCKING FLAIR to show Colonel Parker and Sister Sherri. Why on earth would you do that? They're not even involved in this feud at all.

AND THEY CUT AWAY FOR A 2ND TIME TO SHOW THEM. FUCK YOU, WCW!

This match actually hasn't been nearly as good as I was expecting.

and then flair gets knocked on his ass by the ref, nice.

Sting doesn't really seem to be selling the figure 4 that flair locked in earlier in the match. This is more noticeable because at the same time Flair is still selling the damage done when sting reversed it

Sting eventually gets the scorpion deathlock on Flair, and Flair taps out.

Yeah, this match was outclassed in every single way by the match these two had on Nitro earlier in the month. The only thing unique about this one was all of the ring switching which didn't add anything to the match at all. The Match itself wasn't actually outright bad, but when these two guys step into the ring you expect something special, and they just did not deliver here.

Video package summarizing Hulk/dungeon of doom feud

Standard Hulk Hogan promo about the WW3 match

Bischoff warns us that the match may be nothing but chaos. Yes Eric, that's what I'm worried about

WORLD WAR 3 60 MAN BATTLE ROYAL FOR THE WCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Yeti now looks like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat

One Man Gang is in WCW? Didn't know that.

Michael Buffer Botch #3: He calls WCW "The WCW"

Damn, they really went all out on the pyro

Yeah this looks like it's as big of a mess as I was expecting

the 3 ring anything goes set up is absolutely awful, because it means that there are people on the floor that haven't been eliminated.

The one thing that really is working about it is how well the announcers are selling all the chaos

to make matters worse it seems that as soon as there are 10 men left in each ring (and when the chaos finally starts to sightly clear), everyone has to move into ring one creating a complete mess again

far too many instances of guys getting knocked over the top  rope but staying in the ring. it ruins what drama there is since it's already really hard to follow anything that's happening, and it makes the prospect of seeing someone about to be thrown over less exciting

I think Eddie may have just eliminated someone

They've split the screen so that they have 3 different boxes covering the three different rings, but for the life of me I can't figure out which is which. The announcers keep saying things like "oh X is happening over in ring number 1" but I end up missing whatever they're talking about since the top lest box isn't covering ring #1 like you'd expect it to.

Eddie climbs to the apron for one of his spots, but then can't find a place to get back in the ring

Also it's odd how people who have been eliminated are still apparently able to legally eliminate others as ddp goes over the top rope and then after he hits the ground, pulls johnny b badd down too. odd

and now sadly, Benoit is out

wow, Eddie has lasted a surprisingly long time. I mean right now the people that are left are basically just all of the main eventers, One Man Gang, and Eddie Guerrero

and there he goes.

Holy crap Luger Sting and Giant are all eliminated at once

Savage is declared the champ after he eliminates One Man Gang, but hogan ended u going under the ropes. The ref doesn't acknowledge this though. Dusty Finishes suck.

Flair and savage have an argument about the finish of the match. It's apparently going to be resolved on tomorrow night's nitro.

So, my opinion on the very first World War 3 Match? It was a thing that happened. It was chaotic and basically didn't have any wrestling, and the coverage of it was awful, but it still wasn't as bad as I was expecting, and somehow I managed to avoid being bored. Doesn't even come close to holding a candle to the rumble though.

Final Thoughts: Overall this was a fairly solid PPV. It had a couple of slightly disappointing matches, but none that were actually bad save for the taped fist match, and that Japanese women's tag team match was great. Not sure if it would have been worth the 30 bucks to watch it live or not, but I certainly don't feel like I wasted my time with it.

Sutter Cane Watches WCW: November 1995

Ok, we're moving on to the Month of November in WCW television now, and into the build up for the very first World War 3 Pay Per View. Let's see how this goes.

WCW Monday Nitro 10-30-95

Production fuck up: During the opening recap of Halloween Havoc, they forget to turn on Mongo's mic before he starts to speak

Sgt. Craig "Pit Bull" Pittman vs Eddie Guerrero

The jacket Eddie wears during his entrance is pretty awesome

Why are they making Eddie work a match with such a slow pace?

also, Pittman is making Eddie look really light with the way he's doing his slams

I know I've said this before, but it bears repeating: GOD DAMN Eddie is fast

I haven't seen enough of Pittman's other matches to tell if he's actually any good or not, but these two just really do not work well together

Eddie picks up the win on a surprise roll up

Recap of some of the feuding going on between Scott Norton and Shark, and I really just don't care at all

Heenan has disappeared during the commercial break

Shark vs Scott Norton

Well, I was expecting two big slow guys having a big slow guy match, but Norton isn't as slow as he looks. Shark still is, however, and so the match still pretty much blows

cut away for a few moments to see that Heenan has gone into the audience and is having a meal with Sunny Onoo.

Only real highlight is when Norton goes for a cross body which could have been cool except he doesn't get enough distance on it.

Both men brawl on the outside and the match ends in a double count out despite the fact that we never see nor hear the ref counting. The two men brawl to the back. This brings the bizarre finish counter up to 4, I believe.

Cut back to Heenan having his meal. We overhear some of the conversation and Heenan calls WCw Saturday Night "Saturday Night Main Event". These WCW guys seem to have a hard time remembering which company they're in. Heenan then receives some sort of pay off from Ohno

Recap of the horsemen reforming at Halloween Havoc

The Horsemen come out to the ring. Pillman hold up the 4 fingers despite the fact that there are currently only 3 of them.

Damn, Pillman is fantastic on the mic.

but yeah, a great horsemen promo on Sting here

Also, WCW seems really ahead of the game here, as they announce that next nitro the fans get to pick which matches they want to see. I mean it's probably still rigged, but it's really interesting to see them doing a gimmick like that all the way back in 1995

Sabu vs Disco Inferno

Don't care what anyone else thinks, Disco Inferno is awesome.

Which one of these guys is supposed to be the face? Both have been booked as heels up until this point.

Huh, we're actually getting some Sabu chants from the crowd which seems odd since they've been dead for all of his other matches so far

Sabu picks up another win in yet another short but fun match.

And Sabu runs to the back to get a table to put Disco Inferno through, but disco inferno rolls out of the way.

Apparently it's a Japanese table as well. That's gotta hurt.

Lex Luger and Meng (with taskmaster) vs The American Males (Marcus Bagwell and Scotty Riggs)

The American Males have such a cheesy gimmick, and it's freakin' awesome

and they go to commercial as soon as the match starts. This is supposed to be the main event match too, so I have no idea what they're trying to do here

Also, there's not really anything at stake here. The American Males aren't really a part of the whole Luger story, so it's not really like there's a question of who's going to end up winning. Seems kind of odd to put a nothing match in the main event slot of your show

Meng is boring.

Bagwell pins Luger but the ref is distracted. Luger puts Bagwell in the torture rack and gets the win.

Wait, doesn't it make Luger and Meng look kind of weak when they need interference to be able to win the match. I mean I'm only bringing this up because they're both supposed to be part of the big heel power stable.

Mongo sprays Heenan with some silly string. Unrelated to everything else going on, but amusing nonetheless

Recap of the end of Hogan vs Giant

The Giant has the WHC belt for some reason. Luger Hart Giant and Sullivan cut a promo on hogan. Giant vs Hogan rematch promised for next week. Given the quality of their last match, I'm not all that excited

WCW Monday Nitro: 11/06/95

Savage is apparently still injured from the events at Halloween Havoc

Cobra vs the Giant

Seems like we're not getting the match against hogan we were promised, but it is announced as a title match

Giant immediately hits the chokeslam and pins him. I don't think it's even fair to call it a match

Gene Okerlund checks in from the heel locker room to introduce some of the wrestlers in the running for the main event mach that the audience can call in to vote one

Schiavone checks in from the face locker room and does the same thing

We check in with Hogan, Savage and some random drunk guy at Venice Beach. Macho Man has apparently joined the "dark side" too and started to wear black. This segment just flat out sucks

Taskmaster (with Jimmy Hart) vs Renegade

Oh god, this guy's still around? Please let this match be over quickly.

...and sullivan botches a slingshot Senton

and mercifully it's over as Sullivan picks up the victory.

Ric Flair give a promo from the heel locker room. It's not one of his best.

Chris Benoit vs Eddie Guerrero

Finally, something that I can get excited about, as this week's nitro has been terrible so far. These guys could have a great match in their sleep

HEY THANKS FOR CUTTING AWAY FROM THE ONLY GOOD MATCH ON THE FUCKING CARD TO SHOW SUNNY ONOO's FUCKING ENTOURAGE. NOT LIKE I WANTED TO ENJOY THE MATCH OR ANYTHING

GOD DAMN Chris, you're gonna kill someone with that Powerbomb.

Chris gets the 3 count but Eddie's feet are on the rope. If it means more Eddie vs Chris matches I'm all for it, since they're fucking awesome

Sting cuts a short promo on flair

The fans apparently pick Sting and Flair for the main event. Kind of funny how it works out that the two guys that currently have a major feud going on, and the two guys who they gave promo time to on the show end up winning. Nothing suspicious about that at all. Nope. Guess I really can't complain about the match-up though.

Ric Flair vs Sting

Crowd is absolutely crazy for this match.

I'm not really sure what I can add other than these two really know how to put on an amazing match I mean This is a PPV quality mach that they're giving away on what is essentially (from what I understand) still the B show.

Flair hits Sting with a pair of brass knuckles, but it's only good enough for a 2 count. God damn

Sting picks up the win by locking him the the scorpion death lock after hitting a Superplex. he refuses to break the hold after the match ends, and then in another clusterfuck post match scenario Luger comes down to come to flair's aid but then JL and Eddie come out and try to talk him into breaking the hold, and then James  Sullivan Comes out too. eventually they pull sting off of flair.

Then Luger gets through security and sting breaks free  and goes to attack flair again, but when Luger get's to the ring he actually doesn't end up attacking and just ends up talking to him which gets him to stop and I have no fucking idea what's going on

Jimmy Hart comes out and reveals that he slipped a clause into the contract for the hogan vs Giant match saying that if hogan got disqualified he would lose the championship, which explains some of the stuff we've been seeing. Giant is immediately stripped of the title anyway pretty much arbitrarily

It's then revealed that the now vacant championship will go to the winner of the 60 man battle royal at World War 3.

but seriously, what's the point of having a dramatic reveal that the giant is the champion due to that hidden stipulation if you're going to strip him of it about a minute after the reveal? I don't get it.

This has got to be one of the most unbalanced episodes of a wrestling show I've ever seen. The first half of the show was borderline unwatchable, but the last two matches were so awesome that it made up for it

WCW MONDAY NITRO: 11/13/1995

D'awww, Mongo's dog is dressed up like superman and he's lifting him up and flying him over the announce table. IT'S SO CUTE.

Hulk hogan delivers a promo, and now that they've finally gone whole hog with this darker hulk hogan thing, I don't hate it nearly as much. He's in a long black hooded robe wearing black gloves and a completely black mask covering the top half of his face. It doesn't look half bad in that graveyard setting

the black lines on his face look stupid though, and the promo isn't very good, but i kind of dig the "phantom of the wrestling ring" look

also he and Macho Man are going after Meng apparently. He also now suspects Sting of being in league with the Dungeon, possibly because of what happened with Luger last week

Meng vs Randy Savage

Savage starts by sneaking up on Meng and attacking him from behind.

boring match.

Macho Man wins with the elbow drop, but Savage is then attacked by Luger, Shark, and Taskmaster. Next segment please

I can't tell if Nitro is supposed to be the A show or the B show at this point in time. It seems like most of the feuds get developed on WCW Saturday Night, but the main event feuds all happen on Nitro. Just seems kind of weird.

Kensuki (sic) Sasaki vs Chris Benoit

During the commentary Heenan accidentally calls World War 3 "War Games" which makes me feel a bit better since I've been mentally doing the same thing

marking out for the first WCW appearance of the multiple German suplexes (2 german suplexes then a bridging dragon suplex) and Benoit gets the win.

Also apparently Bischoff can't count, since this is how the commentary for it plays out: *benoit hits the first suplex* "...another standing switch into a German suplex by Benoit. Sasaki up..." *benoit hits the 2nd suplex* "A THIRD German Suplex"

He does actually get the name of the dragon suplex right, which is surprising, given that the commentators seem to generally not know the names of moves, or at least they haven't up until this point.

Solid match, but not as exciting as the one with Eddie the previous week. Also it was pretty short.

Also Benoit is a member of the horsemen now. Guess that happened on WCW Saturday Night.

Johnny B Badd vs Eddie Guerrero

I'm excited for this match. A guy who has done nothing but put on good matches since I've started watching, against one of my two favorite wrestlers of all time

Actually I'm kind of surprised with how much faith they seem to have in Benoit. He made his in ring debut only like a month ago, and they've already made him a member of the horsemen.

these guys really seem to want at each other, but I'm not sure why

huh, they still have time limits apparently.

time expires, the match ends in a draw but the two keep brawling.

but then they hug afterward. This is some really wonky storytelling

Still a damn good match.

Bischoff announces that hulk hogan wants to fight Sting next week on Nitro

Jimmy Hart/Giant/Taskmaster promo again. They've done this promo every week for the past 3 weeks, and it's almost literally the exact same goddamn thing every time. Some more predictable stuff about how The Giant is going to win the WHC at The Royal Rumble World War 3

Dean Malenko vs Sting

3/4 of The Radicalz have had matches on this nitro, all in a row. I'd say that's a recipie for success

they're booking Malenko like he's a lot smaller than he actually is. I mean yeah he's smaller than the main-eventers, but it's not like he's as short as Eddie either.

Sting picks up the victory with a surprise roll up in a pretty solid match

Sting cuts a promo on Hogan

I'm wondering how often the "Sting is part of a group of faces, and then shenanigans happen that cause everyone to be suspicious of him but it turns out in the end that he's a good guy after all" thing is used, because I know they use that as part of the NWO angle as well.

WCW Monday Nitro: 11/20/1995

The show opens with hype for the Hogan/Sting main event

Scott Norton vs Shark

Welp, talk about a way to kill my enthusiasm for the show right off the bat

Norton picks up the victory.

Taskmaster and Jimmy Hart cut a promo. Jimmy Hart is endorsing Sting, which is probably supposed to make us suspicious of Sting's motives, but I'm just not buying it.

You know as silly as this whole angle with Hulk Hogan kind of is, I have to give him some props for actually venturing away from his normal face character for the sake of the angle. I mean can you imagine John Cena doing something like that nowadays? I sure can't.

Yay, Disco Inferno getting more screen time. and then Eddie chases him off.

Eddie Guerrero vs Ric Flair

I didn't know these two ever wrestled each other. This is going to be awesome.

God damn it. Flair comes out in street clothes so we're not getting that match. I'd be more pissed, but since his replacement is Brian Pillman I can't be too angry, as the match will still be pretty damn good

Eddie Guerrero vs Brian Pillman

Flair comes out and says that he's not going to wrestle the match because he's far too focused on sting to compete against Eddie, so Brian is taking his place. Still, what a disappointment.

Brian starts out by acting like a matador, trying to lure Eddie into charging with his red coat. Eddie responds by giving a brilliant "I can't believe I have to deal with this shit" look.

Eddie Guerrero hits the frog splash and picks up the victory. Pretty solid match, but what else can you expect from these two.

Recap of Macho Man getting his arm injured by the DoD.

Big Bubba Rogers (bossman) vs Road Warrior Hawk

Bischoff foreshadowing WWF superstars showing up out of nowhere and joining WCW. Interesting to hear, even if he's just doing it to hype WW3.

am I sure I'm not watching WWF circa 1997 here?

Almost thought Bossman was going for the 619 there with the way he hung Hawk on the 2nd rope and then started charging at the ropes right next to him, but alas, we don't get to see something nearly that ridiculous

Bubba tapes up his fist and runs back to the ropes to get some momentum to hit Hawk, but is tripped by Jim Duggan and hawk pins him for the win.

Well isn't that a novelty, a match in WCW between two big guys that didn't suck

the downside is that eventually we'll have to see Jim Duggan wrestle.

Sting vs Hogan

Macho Man comes out to hogan's music with his arm in a sling, beckoning for hogan to come out, but Hogan isn't entering

but it turns out Savage is just serving as a distraction so hogan can get the drop on sting.

They still haven't explained the whole thing between Luger and Sting.

Hogan completely whiffs with a clothesline, but sting sells it anyway

Hogan's no sell powers, Activate!

but he whiffs on the leg drop of doom, and sting locks in the sharpshooter.

The Dungeon comes out and attacks sting for some reason despite the fact that they were endorsing him earlier in the show since hogan clearly doesn't want to take a clean loss. Hogan and sting start working together and manage to old off The Dungeon.

The show ends with Sullivan and Hart coming up to yell at Bischoff which doesn't make much sense in kayfabe

So yeah, a couple of Final thoughts before World War 3:

Why bother even doing that whole Luger/Sting thing if you're not going anywhere with it?

Why haven't I seen anything from Alex Wright in like over a month now?

and finally, Will the World War 3 match be as big of a Clusterfuck as I'm expecting it to be? I'm not sure how it can turn out any other way when you have 20 guys in each of the 3 rings at the same time.

Sutter Cane Watches WCW: Halloween Havoc 1995

Halloween Havoc 1995

who the fuck thought a monster truck battle at a wrestling ppv was a good idea

and a major story line event happens off screen (flair being attacked and injured), and we're just told that it happened rather than actually being shown anything

Johnny B Badd vs DDP for the Television Championship

I wonder why they never seem to mention the names of the refs anymore.

so this match started off well enough, but now has spent like two straight minutes in nothing rest holds

the one thing I do kind of like about this kind of wrestling is how every slam and suplex is treated as potentially devastating

They're clearly not using the "throwing someone over the top rope = disqualification" thing any more, so why to the commentators keep drawing attention to the rule?

That's kind of an odd finish. Johnny B Badd hits his finisher which only gets a 2 count, but an accidental clothesline by Max Muscle is good enough to get the job done

Still overall a solid opening match.

Savage vs Zodiac

This was a match that happened. That's about that can be said about it.

Savage wins

Anyone else find it odd that a wrestler named Johnny B Badd is a face?

Road Warrior Hawk vs Kurasawa

Another really short match. Kurasawa gets a dirty win. Nothing else to say

Randy Savage is absolutely insane, and it's awesome.

Savage really looks like he as ADD or something in this promo. He constantly fidgets around, turns his back completely to the camera, looks just about everywhere except where you're supposed to when giving an interview, and then makes a completely out of nowhere comment about gene's mustache is crooked, Which savage admits is entirely unrelated to what they were talking about, and then goes out of his way to say that it wasn't meant as a knock at gene, but that is was just something he noticed and wanted to inform him about. Still an awesome promo

JL vs Sabu

Still not used to seeing ring steps along the sides of the right rather than at the corners

I'm really going to miss Sabu once he leaves. his matches are really fun to watch

Wow, the crowd is completely dead for this match, and I don't understand why.

Sabu picks up the win with the Arabian press, and i'm suddenly aware that I miss John Morrison being in WWE

The master and Kevin Sullivan cut a promo, AND IT SEEMS. LIKE THE MASTER. CAN'T STOP. SHOUTING. EVERYTHING HE SAYS. AND THAT. HE CAN'T SAY. MORE THAN 2-3 WORDS. AT THE SAME TIME.

Lex Luger vs Meng

there's a close up of a headstone that's part of the Hallowen Havoc set that they've marked "Crockett". I see what you did there.

Meng is thrown out of the ring, and stays on the outside of about 30 seconds, but the ref doesn't even begin to count

The whole story they're doing with Luger and Savage in this PPV just seems like an all around ba idea. The story is that if savage and Luger both win their matches against members of the dungeon of doom, they get to face each other later in the night.

I mean you're kind of reducing the matches against main heel faction to basically just "the thing that has to happen before the thing we're really excited about.

I'm actually surprised with how long this match is going on, given the length of Savage's match.

Kevin Sullivan comes in right as Meng is about to get the win and breaks up the pin, giving Luger a victory by DQ. I think i may be smelling a Luger heel turn (despite the fact that it seems like that wouldn't make a lot of sense)

Kind of a dull match, but I've seen far worse

Giant comes out and cuts a promo

Is it just me, or is all of this monster truck stuff completely isolated from the rest of the hogan/giant feud?

Also, why Monster trucks?

Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman vs Flair and Sting

Sting comes out by himself and Slair in nowhere to be seen at the start of the match

Unsurprisingly, this match is really damn good

The way they've been doing this, they're really making it seem like sting is reall staying in this by using his cunning to stay in this match rather than just overpowering his opponents and making them look weak.

Also, Flair comes sprinting down to ringside in his street colthes and starts beating the crap out of everybody.

It seems really weird that Sting was doing really well before flair shows up, but as soon as Flair makes it down to ringside he starts getting dominated

still, other than that the storytelling in this match is absolutely fantastic.

Unrelated to this particular match, but why is it that tag team members are seemingly allowed to come in and break up pins when they're not the legal man? I think it could add some more drama to tag matches if the partner is basically helpless to do anything but watch as their partner is pinned since interference would mean a disqualification

flair gets the tag and turns on sting. Looks like the horsemen are back together. eventually the match ends in disqualification. Really good match. Pretty solid twist ending.

Flair then cuts an amazing promo about the horsemen getting back together. I'm excited to see the horsemen back in action, especially with Brian Pillman in their ranks

Luger cuts a a promo and nearly says "the WWF" instead of WCW.

Hulk Hogan vs the Giant: Sumo Monster Truck battle:

Why? Just Why? What do monster trucks have to do with anything? I mean I know the storyline justification for it, but what the hell do monster trucks have to do with wrestling. I mean i can understand why WCW wanted to shell out a bunch of money to bring in celebrities like Dennis Rodman, even if I do think it was a bad move, but what are they even trying to achieve with this whole monster truck thing? I just don't get it. As far as I know, monster trucks aren't particularly mainstream.

Seeing all this is giving me the sudden urge to watch Battlebots/robot wars again.

Hogan end up winning, but who really cares

Not as disastrous as I was expecting, but still completely pointless

Hogan and the Giant get into a brawl. Giant gets knocked off the roof. Pretty cool moment actually.

Bischoff and Heenan selling the moment really well too

Lex Luger vs Randy Savage

I can't put my finger on why, but Savage's beard looks really weird

and Luger looks to be completely no selling his injuries from his earlier match with meng

are there no count outs in WCW or something, as savage and Luger brawl on the outside for a good amount of time

macho man picks up the win with an elbow drop, in a really anti-climactic finish. The match actually started off intense and entertaining, but once they had jimmy hart interfere, they whole thing just went to shit

Heenan's supposed to be the heel commentator right? Cause He's dead on about Shcivone not being nearly concerned enough about the fact that a man was just thrown off the top of a fucking building.

Michael Buffer botch #1: Calls Hulk Hogan "The King of Hulk Mania"

Hogan starts to deliver a promo about how he didn't mean to throw Giant off of the roof, but The Giant inturrupts him by coming to the ring

Michael Buffer botch #2: Calls the Taskmaster "Task-Masker"

Hogan vs The Giant for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship

this match takes forever to start up, as hogan takes forever to reveal that he now has the same facepaint as taskmaster.Which is just really stupid

a lot of strikes are exchanged, and not much actual wrestling, and yet somehow I'm not bored yet, or at least i wasn't until they decide to just basically sit still and not do anything for an eternity.

Did Hogan just Kiss The Giant, cause the camera angle they chose sure as hell made it look like he did

OK, this match does not need to go on nearly this long

I get it guys, the bear hug hurts. Now fucking do something, or you know just stay there basically standing still for another solid minute.

Hart turns on hogan right as he's about to win.No idea why, but the distraction is enough to allow giant to regain advantage.

and Luger starts attacking savage to the surprise of no one, as fucking everyone comes out to the ring.

Also, who thought that the yeti was a good idea?

The giant wins by DQ, but for the life of me I can't figure out why, since everyone who interfered was attacking hogan, and it has nothing to do with the confusion of the original ref, since he was still out. How the fuck does that make any sense?

Again this ppv just was not very good at all. I'm starting to get the feeling that shitty ppvs are going to be a theme in WCW, aren't they?
Additional thoughts: Luger being a member of the dungeon of doom really doesn't make any sense to me since he was actively being targeted by them up until this ppv. Their isn't a lot of logic behind flair re-forming the horsemen either, but given that Ric Flair is insane it actually does make sense in a weird way.
